Matthew Trinneer is a bikepacker, software developer, and the creator of BikepackPro, a decision-making app purpose-built for long-distance riders. In 2024, he completed the Tour Divide — and it was on that 4,400-kilometer ride from Banff to the Mexican border that the idea for BikepackPro first took shape: a tool for the real decisions riders face in the field, from water sources to camp weather to emergency repairs.

Weeks after finishing, a near-fatal cycling accident left Matthew with broken vertebrae and months of intensive recovery. Unable to ride, he channeled his energy into building the app he had envisioned on the trail. A prototype shared with the 2025 Tour Divide field was used thousands of times over the race, including by riders at the front of the pack.

Matthew lives in Toronto and builds things one pedal stroke at a time.

Fun Facts

  1. If it plugs into the wall, I can fix it.  Like magic
  2. Posted on social media for the first time this year, and I’m 50!
  3. Can fall asleep anytime, anywhere. Have twice woken up in a restaurant only to find they’ve closed, cleaned up for the night, and left me locked inside!
